Layering as an Editing Tool with Cassandra Carr

Have you ever finished the first draft of a book and thought it was missing something, but you weren't sure what? That "what" is probably layering - the process of adding details to your story, from character traits to body language to descriptions of the environment surrounding your story. Each type of layering will be described, complete with examples, and then you'll have the chance to try your hand at layering your own work, with critiques from me on how you did.

Writing Sports Romance

Sports romance is one of the fastest-growing subgenres, and this course will teach you how to write compelling, realistic stories. You’ll learn about the specific personality traits of elite athletes, what their day-to-day lives are like, how to describe the atmosphere in a locker room, and other details you’ll need to make your book the best it can be.

Win when writing for an anthology

Ever wondered how authors find themselves involved in an anthology, or how they find the right anthology to showcase their work?

Just like selling your book to the right publisher, choosing the right anthology for your story can make all the difference. There is tons of great advice on how to pick a publisher, but how do you figure out which anthology is best for you?

In this workshop, you will learn how to determine if a particular anthology is good for you and the nitty-gritty details you need to keep in mind once you've agreed. We'll also go through the process itself from acceptance to release.

Learn the ins and outs of Twitter

If Twitter or "tweeting" is a mystery, join multi-published author, Cassandra Carr in a two-week workshop that will help you to become a Twitter beginner to a Twitter pro.

Write the sexy M/M or M/F/M

Time Management for Writers

September 4-17 (Link to register coming soon!)

Fulfill your pressing obligations and still squeeze out the last amount of time in your schedule to make your writing dreams come true. All writers need to draft, revise, polish, and promote, but finding the time is sometimes the biggest challenge. Cassandra will show you,

No one has enough time. It's a fact of life. But for a writer, time is even more of a pressing problem, since so many of us write around full-time jobs, families, and other pressing obligations. How on earth does any writer find the time to draft, revise, and polish a work, much less submit it, edit it, and promote it once it's sold and released? In this course you'll be given concrete advice on how to structure your time; how to find the time to begin with, what to do when you have it; and how much to devote to different tasks.

Author Marketing and Branding

October 30-November 12 (Link to register coming soon!)

In this course you will learn what branding is, what your platform is and how to develop it, plus tips for book launches and signings, all about social media and where you should concentrate your time, what should be on your website, how to put together author pages on sites like Amazon and Goodreads, information about Street Teams and much more!

It's Raining Men: Writing a MM or MFM Story
