Welcome Guest Blogger Elizabeth Rose

Today Elizabeth Rose stops by to tell us about her latest series.  Take it away, Elizabeth…

Hi, and thank you for having me as a guest today.

rose prequel Welcome Guest Blogger Elizabeth Rose To tell you a little about myself, I am Elizabeth Rose. I have close to 30 published romance novels ranging from medieval to contemporary to paranormal. I am also an artist and create my own book covers as well as my own book trailer videos. I am happy to announce that my brand new book trailer for my Daughters of the Dagger Series is now finished. And the Prequel to the series is FREE, so be sure to pick up your copy today.

When I started writing my Daughters of the Dagger Series, I thought about all the old medieval superstitions and the odd things people believed in, and decided to make up one of my own. Mirabelle de Burgh wants more than anything to give her husband children, but is barren. And in the medieval times, every man wanted as many boys as possible, as they valued them more than girls. So Mirabelle takes a risk, steals money from her husband, and goes in secret to buy gemstone daggers from a blind old hag. She’s heard the superstition that for every dagger bought from the hag, she is sure to conceive a child. Now without risking giving away any more of the story, let’s just say that things don’t always go as planned.

There are four daughters in the series. While writing about the girls and their romances with dangerous, headstrong men, I decided I’d take my love for medieval history and let my readers not only be entertained, but also learn things that they might not have known. So in Ruby – Book 1, my hero has been entrusted to protect a baby who may be the king’s bastard. Back then, just about every king had mistresses and bastards so it wasn’t uncommon at all.

In Sapphire – Book 2, I explore wool smuggling and the secret passageways attached to some pubs, some still being found in England today. In Amber – Book 3, my heroine is a novice in an abbey – until she meets her devil of a husband. This book explores the power as well as the corruption in the church back then, and the stealing of relics – and in my book, the Regale Ruby. I think this book is my favorite of the series, and I even show the process of illuminating a medieval manuscript. That was something I didn’t know how to do, until I researched it. Fascinating.

rose amber Welcome Guest Blogger Elizabeth Rose  And then there is Amethyst – Book 4. I once again pushed the envelope, as I decided I wanted to write about the process of building a castle and I wanted my heroine involved in doing it, even though that would never happen in that time period as most lords treated their dogs better than they did women. So she is sent by the archbishop’s orders, (so no one is going to object with orders from that high up), as assistant to her uncle, the master mason, to help build a castle for an earl who has no respect for women.

rose macKeefe Welcome Guest Blogger Elizabeth Rose Now, without giving away too much, I’d just like to say that the series following this one is my MadMan MacKeefe Scottish series. In Onyx – Book 1, he is a crazy Highlander who is feared for his appearance of having two different colored eyes. There are three men in the series who are friends and known for doing crazy, risky things. In Onyx, I incorporate the Book of Hours. And in my latest release, Aidan – Book 2, I write about the Stone of Destiny. It is said that when the Stone of Destiny – the ancient coronation stone of Scotland – was stolen by England, that it may have been a fake. And the true stone may have been in hiding. So the basis of my story is that this is exactly what happened, and Aidan is the guardian of the stone, and Effie needs to steal it in order to free her sister from being held captive by the English.

And watch for Ian – Book 3 of the MadMan MacKeefe Series to be released sometime in the next few months.

Thanks again, and if anyone would like to read excerpts of any of my books or see more of my book trailer videos, please visit my website.

Bare Back Excerpt:

“We need to get out of these woods,” she says to me. Her breathing is hard, and I’m entranced by the sight of her chest heaving. What I wouldn’t give to run my fingers over her nipples, watching her shudder as she falls apart at my touch.

“Snap out of it Mitch, what are we going to do?” I slip the map out of my pocket, trying to gauge where we are.

“Okay, it looks like we’re around here. We can follow the creek to here,” I point out. “It’s about a two mile hike, uphill. Then when we reach this rock formation, we can go around it, and start heading north. The park ranger fire tower is only a few miles from there.”

“Let’s go then,” she says.

“You do realize we can’t hike when it’s dark right? It’s going to be dark in about two hours. I say we head out and camp at the rock formation.”

“Are you kidding me?” she says, her voice getting louder. “You know what kind of animals are in here? We don’t even have my tents anymore! They were on my horse, that are now lost somewhere out here.”

“There should be some caves in the formation. People are always coming out here to climb through them. We’ll be fine. I’ll take first watch so you can sleep and then you can take the second. We’ll be fine.” I had grabbed one of the sleeping bags from the camp, just in case we needed it. Now it’s looking like a great idea. We’re definitely going to need it.

What’s the next release? My next release will be Buffalo Rocker 2. There’s another big cover name sexy that will be gracing my cover!

Anything else exciting happening? I have a lot lined up for 2014! Stick around and find out.

Welcome Guest Blogger Babette James

Today Babette James stops by with some warm thoughts that may help thaw us out a little.  Babette, take us away…

I adore writing romances set in the summer. Now, that doesn’t mean I won’t write a story set in any other season, and I’m actually writing a novella series in which each story has it’s own season. But summer is the season for me when I’m writing the contemporary romance stories in my River series. Hot sunny days, the cool water of a lake or pool, and steamy starry nights: perfect for romance. Writing summer-set scenes also allows me loads of fun in choosing settings for love scenes: a shade-dappled river bank, a sailboat berth, a desert campsite at the river, a bedroom with curtains swaying in the sultry breeze, or a back porch with a thunderstorm brewing. I like mixing the freedom of a little vacation relaxation away from work and worries for my characters with the temptation of attraction and with the complications of two people meeting and being swept up in the romance of the moment and the reality of what love really means for their lives.

What do you love best about summer romances?

james summertime 200x300 Welcome Guest Blogger Babette James

Summertime Dream

The Fourth of July is over, but for these summer lovers the fireworks have just begun.

An unexpected inheritance brings business consultant Christopher Gordon from Los Angeles to quaint Falk’s Bend. He’s carved a week from his demanding schedule to list his great-grandparents’ house for sale and explore his roots. However, disturbing family secrets and the sweet temptation of writer Margie Olsson derail his plans, challenging him to seize the elusive dream missing from his hectic life— love.

A recent brush with death shook Margie’s life, but not her dreams and she’s ready to move forward. Only, standing up to her loving, over-protective family isn’t easy. Helping Christopher explore the derelict mansion and unravel his grandmother’s mysterious past should be a harmless fun taste of independence. But when her experimental summer fling ignites into unexpected love, how can her small town dreams work with his big city life?

Margie set the broom aside and planted hands on hips as she scanned the tidied porch. “Oh, yes, so much nicer already. Don’t you worry, it’s going to keep getting better.” She swung around, tipped up on her toes, and kissed him, quick and cheery.

Quick wasn’t enough.

More was his last intelligent thought as he pulled her close. He brought his mouth down on hers and took, sliding his hands over her hips to cup the perfect curves of her ass, and backed her against the wall beside the kitchen door. She lifted herself into him, wrapping her arms around his neck, soft breasts crushed against his chest, opening her mouth to his with a reckless abandon matching his own, giving hot and sweet.

Raining kisses down her throat, he savored the salt and sweet heat of her, breathing in the faint clean floral remnants of her shampoo. Sighing, she tilted her head to give him easier access to nibble and nip at that delicate sensitive skin and the tender lobe of her ear.

Her pleasure laden moan, “Oh, nice,” blew away the last shred of his guilt and control.

Words failed under hungry strokes of hands, reduced to delighted groans and pleasured gasps.

Needing more, needing her closer, he stroked his hands over the smooth skin of her thighs, and lifted her. His voice broke hoarsely. “Wrap your legs around me.”

Now she was the perfect height, the perfect fit, her body to his, caught between him and the wall, her soft to his hard. Gasps and laughter escaped them all through the crazy hot time-stopping kiss. Aching for her as they strained and rocked, burning up inside, he needed more. Not a single damned place in this house he could lay her down…

Wait, wait—He grabbed for sanity. What the hell was he doing?

Tearing his mouth from hers, he let Margie slide to her feet, uncomfortably aware of her exasperated whimper. He’d never lost control like that before. He slumped against the wall, propped away from her on palms and forehead against the siding, sweating and breathless. Maybe he should feel guilty, but mostly he felt incredible, shaken, and frustrated as hell.

“Sorry.” He shut his eyes and fought to calm his aching body. Sweat trickled over his temples. Far from trusting his legs enough yet to walk away, yet he needed to step away. Maybe if he counted backwards from a thousand…

“Sorry? I’m sorry it had to end. Holy moly, oh, that was crazy wonderful.” She traced her fingertips in a mesmerizing pattern over his back.

“I came on too strong. I—”

Wait. She was okay with him manhandling her like that? He opened his eyes and found her watching him, her gaze deep and dreamy and the smile on her kiss bruised lips happily bemused.

She pressed a soft fingertip to his lips. “You were wonderful. That was the most incredible kiss ever, so don’t you dare apologize.”

Incredible, oh, yeah. Crazy wonderful was a good description. His chuckle ended in a groan. He doubted he’d ever been harder. “I really wish the water was on. I need a cold shower. Bad.” He really needed to walk away from her before he caved and did anything else stupid.

Like running his hand over her soft curves or caressing the perfect handful of her breast as he was doing right now.

“I know what you mean. I’m as wrung out as a noodle. Oh, that feels good.” She arched into him and their mouths met.

#SneakPeekSunday 2/16/14- Hiding In Plain Sight #LGBT #newrelease

I took off Sneak Peek Sunday for a few weeks while the releases were coming fast and furious, but I’m ready to share more wordly yumminess (is so a phrase!) with you.

This is from my newest release, Hiding In Plain Sight:

Joe bit the inside of his cheek to concentrate on something besides how luscious Vlad looked in a tank top and a pair of sweat shorts.

“Thank you for making sure I got home.”

Joe nodded, still transfixed. Finally he roused himself out of his lust-hazed stupor and strode for the door. He needed to get the hell out of there. Vlad followed him. Before Joe could open the door, Vlad turned him around and caged him in as his hands slapped the door on each side of his head. Then Vlad was kissing him, his insistent tongue pressing into Joe’s mouth as he leaned his weight on him, crushing Joe between him and the door. Holy hell. Joe wanted to sink into the kiss, wanted to sink into the man. I can’t. I can’t deal with a closet case. I had enough of that bullshit in the Army. Besides, the guy’s drunk. I’m the only gay guy he knows, and he’s experimenting. He’ll probably regret doing it tomorrow. He pushed Vlad back and wiped his mouth with his sleeve.

“I was bad?”

The guy looked crushed.

“No, no, God no. You’re frighteningly good at that.” He ran a hand through his hair. Vlad wouldn’t look at him. “Vlad, when you kiss a guy, I mean really kiss him, he should be someone great, someone you really like.”

Vlad nodded, but the misery was plain on his face.

“Hey,” Joe said softly. “I just want you to have the best experience you can.” Even if I want you, I won’t go through that again. I’m finally free. “I almost forgot. Before I leave, I wanted to give you my cell number. If you decide you’d like to talk some more, I mean.” Definitely not fuck. Definitely.

Hmmm. Methinks Joe might protest too much…

Book 5 in the Tryst Island Series

By reading any further, you are stating that you are at least 18 years of age. If you are under the age of 18, please exit this site.

That’s Devlin Fox?” She glared across the restaurant. It wasn’t bad enough that the gorgeous guy she ran into on the ferry turned out to be friends with the douche in the ascot she’d been running from. No.

He had to be her worst enemy too.

Damn. Damn damn damn.

“You know him?” Bella asked.

“He writes a Foodie Blog.” Tara glowered around the table, trying hard not to snarl. Or pout. “He gave Stud Muffin a bad review.”

“What?” Cam squawked.

Jamie shook her head. “Why did he do that?”

Tara crossed her arms over her chest. She’d spent her life learning her craft. Spent her life savings opening her own bakery. Spent years building clientele. Then, with one crappy review, business had tanked. Totally into the toilet. In one fell swoop, many of her regulars had stopped coming in.

She wasn’t sure she’d be able to make the bills this month, which was devastating.

And all because of him.

It was unfair for one man to have so much power.

And why had he panned her bakery? “Because I don’t have gluten-free.” She muttered, then added, under her breath, “Big baby.”

Still, gluten-free was a huge deal in Seattle. She’d spent the past week working up recipes. And fantasizing about wreaking vengeance on a certain blogger.

It had been a mere fantasy, until now. But now…

Kaitlin shifted closer, drawing Tara’s attention. “What are you thinking?” she asked in a whisper, her features tight.

Tara froze. It didn’t do to think around Kaitlin. Not that the elfin redhead read minds, or at least that’s what she claimed. But she seemed to know things.

“Nothing.” Tara made it a point to bat her lashes.

Kaitlin’s nose rumpled, as though she smelled something nasty. Like a lie.

But hell. Tara couldn’t tell Kaitlin what she was really thinking because Kaitlin—the sweet, innocent soul that she was—would try to talk her out of it. Ramble on about Karma and shit.

No, Tara couldn’t tell anyone what she was really thinking about.

Because she was plotting revenge.

She was going to get Devlin Fox back. And she was going to get him good.

* * * * *

“Hi there.”

Devlin turned on the barstool, his trademark smile firmly in place. Everything within him froze. It was her. That little slice of heaven from the ferry. Damn. She was as hot as he remembered.

She sidled up next to him and the chatter of the bar receded. Fascination—and something else—rose.

“Well hello there.”

He liked her scent, something floral and light. He liked her heat as she pressed against his side. She lowered her long lush lashes and peeped up at him through the fringe. Damn, that was sexy. She licked her lips. That was sexy too.

“I never got to thank you,” she purred.

“Th-Thank me?” Was that her hand? On his thigh?

Shit yeah.

“For saving me.” Her fingers flexed. “I would have tumbled to my death if you hadn’t grabbed me.”

“I doubt you would have tumbled to your death. Disfigurement, perhaps. Dire injury. But not death. Don’t exaggerate.”

She laughed, a low chortle. “Well… Thank you.” She leaned closer and whispered, “Can I buy you a drink?”

Devlin blinked. He’d been hit on in bars before, but no woman had ever offered to buy him a drink.

She might just be a perfect woman. “Sure.”

“What’s your poison?”

“Whiskey sour.”

She signaled to the bartender.

“So…I’m Devlin.”

“Devlin.” She cooed. Actually cooed.

“And you are…?”

He jumped a little as her hand skated up his thigh. His pulse skipped. “I…ah…yes. But what can I call you?” He had a pretty good idea where this was headed, and he wanted to know what to cry out as he sank into her steamy depths. It was only polite to know a woman’s name at a moment like that.

She pursed her lips, as though she were thinking it over. Or thinking about something else. Her thumb snaked up. Nudged his balls, ever so lightly, and through thick denim, but he felt it like an electrical charge. “Call me Sugar.”

“Sugar.” Oh yeah. She was sweet.

“Would you…like to go for a walk?”

“A walk?” His cock lurched. All thoughts of that drink faded.

“It’s a beautiful night…”

She looked over her shoulder and then threaded her fingers in his, leading him toward the back of the bar. He didn’t know why they weren’t heading for the front door, but didn’t much care.

She was a beautiful woman. She wanted him. And he was just drunk enough to follow her anywhere she led.

He shot a glance at Parker who sent him a thumbs up.

They barely made it out the back door of the bar before she kissed him. Damn. Backed him up against the wall, raked her fingers through his hair, pulled his head down and took his mouth.

And damn, she was a good kisser. She ate him with heat and passion and carnivorous zeal. He responded in kind, thrusting his tongue into her mouth. He nearly passed out when she sucked on it, nibbled it, toyed with it. He couldn’t help imagining her doing the same to his cock.

Her palm roved over his chest and made its way down to his hips. He didn’t dare move as she slowly teased the band of his jeans. She pulled back and held his gaze as she popped the snap.

“Mmm,” she murmured, reaching in. His eyes crossed as she molded his length. Squeezed. “Such a big boy.” She licked her lips and his brain short-circuited. When she went to her knees before him and blew a hot breath on him through the cotton of his briefs, he nearly lost consciousness. “I want to taste you,” she said. “Take off your pants.”

Holy God. Yes.

In a frenzy, he kicked off his shoes, and ripped off his jeans, hopping from one foot to the other. He held still, frozen in place, as she hooked her thumbs in his briefs and eased them down revealing his eager cock. She dragged his underwear down until they pooled at his ankles.

He heard the catch in her moan. Felt the trace of a warm finger around his swollen head and down to the base. He shuddered.

“Ah. Yes,” she said, coming close. Her heat caressed him. His knees knocked. She fisted him. Pumped. Once. Twice. Blood pounded at his temples. Thrummed in his cock. She bent closer. Her damp breath kissed the head. “Such a big dick,” she said.

If he’d been in his right mind, her tone would have warned him, but he wasn’t in his right mind. He was a little drunk and a lot horny and there was a gorgeous woman on her knees before him with his cock in her fist. Her mouth hovered over the tip.

Yes. Yes. Just a little more…

She released him and stood up in a rush. Her beautiful, seductive expression morphed into something bitter. He gaped at her, stunned.

“Yeah,” she said, propping her fists on her hips. “You, Devlin Fox, are a big dick.”

And then she left. Whirled on her heel and left him standing there, half-naked, leaning against the grimy brick wall behind a grungy bar.

And she took his jeans.

#ThursdayThirteen 2/13/14- 13 reasons spring is great

I don’t know about you, but I’ve had it with winter. Actually, I’d had it with winter by early December and just feel insulted it’s continued to ignore my demands to go away. I’m considering a restraining order. (See what happens when I’m cooped up inside all day? I go batty!)

So I thought I’d take a moment to remind you all that no matter how long winter is, and please please please let it not be much longer, spring always comes.

1. The snow is melting and going away.

2. Crocuses start to bloom.

3. Daffodils peek through.

4. Animals come back out.

5. The Easter Bunny makes his annual appearance.

6. Kids start riding their bikes again.

7. Hot guys wear shorts & go shirtless (I’ll ignore the non-hot guys.)

8. You can go down to the waterfront here in Buffalo and not freeze.

9. One word: Grilling!

10. April Fool’s Day

11. Mayday celebrations

12. Your Vitamin D levels can finally rise.

13. Opening the pool

What are you looking forward to most about spring coming?

Welcome guest blogger Trillium

Today Trillium is stopping by to discuss her historical erotic romances.  Take it away, Trillium…

Cassandra, thank you for hosting me on your blog.  It’s a great honor!

Hi everyone!  My name is Trillium. My books, Tuxedos and Corsets and Ties That Bind, fit a distinctive niche in erotic romance. Both are mysteries set in the 1960s. Let’s take a trip back in time.

When I began the books, I thought it would be fun to set BDSM stories in such a turbulent time period. Women began the decade with few rights. In fact, employers reserved the right to spank a mis-behaving female employee. By the end they were breaking free with the pill and feminism. How would a pain-loving submissive with an attitude survive the changes in mores?

The problem with writing historical, especially recent historical, is you think you know when things occurred.  I was surprised to find out the Bay of Pigs Crises didn’t occur when I thought it had. The birth control pill was a glimmer in someone’s mind during the early 60s—the time when I set my story.

Of course, some of the history allowed me to show the snarkier side of my heroine. (Just because someone is a submissive, doesn’t mean they’re a doormat.)  Smoking was allowed in most office buildings, including the elevator.  That led rise to this scene:

Maura stared at the paper in her hand, shook her head and made her way to the brass-faced elevators. People thronged the small hallway between the banks, including the young executive from the newsstand. She smiled sweetly and shook out the paper to read more about the Cubans. Glancing over the top, she saw him scowl at her, take out a cigarette and light it with the click of the lighter.

I hate smoke.

The elevator door opened and she maneuvered herself in front of the man, jostling him enough to cause him to drop his cigarette.

“Watch where you’re going, lady!”

“Oh, I’m so sorry,” she lied and stepped into the elevator, leaving the smoker behind. As the doors shut she waved.

The things we take for granted weren’t around.  No cell phones. No microwaves. (Darn. That means my heroine actually had to cook something!)  No computers.

No Internet.

When Maura is kidnapped in the second book, her boss Mike gets a lead about a building that might be a brothel where she’s being held. He needs to find out who owns it. Today he’d do an Internet search. Back then searches were done by shoe leather and persuasion.

“I’ve got to see those records now,” Mike said into the phone early Tuesday morning. “I don’t care if it’s Memorial Day.”

“I’ve got a barbecue in Nyack today,” the land records clerk of Westchester County protested. “That’s the opposite direction from the office.”

“This is a matter of life and death.” Mike’s volume inched higher.

“It’s a building, for God’s sake.”

Mike pulled out his final card. “Bob, remember the time I took care of that little problem your son caused down in the Village?”

Bob let out a puff of air. “How soon can you get there?”

Fortunately, the setting did allow me to craft a scene where Mike introduces Maura to the rules of the office. The following excerpt contains BDSM oriented adult content, as do both books in the series. If any of that offends you, please DO NOT click on the links for the excerpt or the books.

The other fun twist to these books is I based them on a film series about a private eye and his blonde wife set in the 1930s.  They had a small fox terrier named Asta.  Everyone who comments with the correct name of that film series (and underlying books) will be entered in a drawing for a $10 Amazon Gift Certificate.

I hope you enjoyed your trip back to the 1960s.

Bio: I love to read and write stories with dark, brooding, isolated characters (like Heathcliff, Dracula, Darth Vader, and Severus Snape) and tough, independent, caring heroines. For much of my professional career, I’ve written non-fiction, although I’ve recently discovered writing romance is much more fun. 😉

Life took a strange turn when I was younger and I ended up enlisting in the Marines, where I served in Parris Island, the California desert, and Okinawa, Japan. Then I backpacked alone through Europe,  and lived in Paris, France for little while. These experiences have provided me enough settings and characters for a lifetime of writing. Currently, I live in New England with my fantastic husband and kids.

Hi, I’m Lisa Carlisle. Thanks for having me as a guest author today. 2014 is shaping up to be very exciting. I’m revising the sixth book in my paranormal erotic romance series with Ellora’s Cave right now. It includes characters from the other books in the series and I’m enjoying rereading the other books to make sure I get all the details right. I’ve never read them in paperback form, only digital, so it’s kind of a cool experience to read them for pleasure and as part of the revision process.

I also have the first part of a sexy new adult series ready to go, one I plan to self-publish very soon. Sign up for my newsletter on my website to hear of new releases! http://www.lisacarlislebooks.com/subscribe/

The latest book in the series was released at the end of 2013, called Gargoyle’s Embrace. I love gargoyles and they are frequently mentioned in the series. I couldn’t wait to write a story with a sexy gargoyle as the main character. This is a quickie in the series, so it’s shorter than the others, but it’s a also a good starting point for a taste of the series. You don’t have to read the books in order.

Other good news is my new release with Red Sage, a military / new adult romance called A Marine’s Proposal. I started writing this story over ten years ago from an idea that came up when I served in the military. And then I thought what if? However, I put it aside for years. Last New Year’s my resolution was to finish one of the military romances I’d neglected. Funny enough, it was released this New Year’s day!

Here’s more on Gargoyle’s Embrace. You can read blurbs and excerpts for the other books at lisacarlislebooks.com.

Gargoyle’s Embrace

Fifth in the Underground Encounters series.

Tracy isn’t sure why she’s drawn to a particular gargoyle statue in the Goth club where she works. After the stone takes human form to protect her from her abusive ex, she brings the handsome, naked male to her apartment. It’s impossible to ignore the seductive appeal of a man sculpted like a Viking warrior.

Danton has only hours in human form to spend with the woman he has hungered for. He’s convinced what’s between them is more than hot sex, but he needs to convince Tracy of that before he turns back to stone.

Tracy brushed her fingers over the smooth stone of the gargoyle perched at the end of the bar of the Vamps nightclub.

“I’m stuck with the late shift tonight,” she said. “But at least I took in some good money.”

She stood over the crouched gargoyle and ran her hand over the smooth area between its two horns, down the back of its head and over its hunched back where its two wings connected. “Thanks for always listening,” she said, aware of how foolish she sounded speaking to a statue. If anyone saw her, they’d think she was stone-cold crazy. She bent to kiss its smooth, chiseled stone cheek in gratitude.

Over the last few months, Tracy had begun talking to the stone gargoyle as if it were a companion whenever she had a few moments alone in the bar. Why she gravitated toward this one gargoyle while several others were perched around the club, she didn’t know. She found something compelling about it, drawing her in, and she often confided her secrets to it.

Tracy rested her hand on the gargoyle’s shoulder while she scanned the club. Bottles and cups were scattered in every dark corner and under the other perched gargoyles. The scent of sweat and spilled beer still permeated the club.

Was it one of the guys out back? The guys she worked with were bringing out the trash and the bottles for recycling. The other bartenders had already settled up and left for the night. They rotated who could leave first and who had to stay to make sure they were stocked for the next night.

No, they knew better than to call her Trace.

“It’s Tracy,” she said, turning to face the intruder.

And stared into the face of her ex.

“What are you doing here, Brian?” The muscles in her body tensed as she gauged the distance between her and the pepper spray behind the bar should she need it.

She thought she felt a tiny movement under her hand.

No, she had to be losing her mind. As if stone could move.

She kept her hand on the stone like a security blanket, almost gripping it now that Brian had appeared.

“I came to see what you were doing tonight. Thought maybe we could hang out.” The way he slurred the words indicated he’d already had one too many, a bad sign.

“Definitely not. The restraining order should make that clear.”

“Babe, I was in a rough place and I took it out on you. Let’s put the past behind us and try again.”

The cold stone felt warmer beneath her hand. How strange. Was she so heated from the tension of Brian arriving that her palm could warm cool stone?

“No, Brian. I’ve given you too many chances and each time it ended worse than the time before.”

“Babe.” He approached her. “I would never hurt you again.”

“Don’t come any closer.” She moved away from the gargoyle to get to her purse behind the bar.

“Trace, you’re soooo dramatic.” He moved behind the bar.

Tracy was distracted by the gargoyle statue behind him. It was changing color, from gray stone to what appeared to be—flesh.

“Come on, we were good together. Don’t you miss the sex?”

The stone wings of the gargoyle statue unfurled into enormous sleek, black, feathered ones. The gargoyle reshaped itself, rising from a crouched position to stand on two legs to a full height well over six feet.

And its head. The horns sank back into the stone while light-blond hair sprouted to take their place, growing past its broad shoulders. Within a few seconds, the grotesque stone creature she found lovable had transformed into a breathtaking male with flawless bronze skin, long blond hair and the magnificent physique of a Viking warrior. Who stood before them stark naked.

“Holy shit!” she exclaimed, eyes widening.

“I know, babe. The sex was awesome.”

She fumbled for her purse, searching for the damn spray. She wasn’t even sure who she was going to direct it at now with two threats facing her.

It was too late. Brian had grabbed her wrists and tried to kiss her.

“Get off me!”

She attempted to knee him in his testicles, but he deflected the blow by turning his body to the side.

Enormous black wings surrounded Brian and a second later he was lifted off the ground. Brian exclaimed, “What the―” which was cut off as he was thrown over the bar onto the empty dance floor.

He scrambled to his feet on unsteady legs. The gargoyle stepped over to him in a few massive strides. While Tracy’s gaze paused on his sculpted buttocks, the gargoyle raised one of his sinewy legs and kicked Brian in the gut. Brian groaned and clutched his stomach. The gargoyle lifted a foot over Brian’s head.

Tracy screamed while Brian shielded his face with his forearm to brace against the gargoyle stomping on his head.

Welcome Guest Blogger Keira Andrews

Today Keira Andrews stops by to discuss men on skates. Take it away, Keira…

Hot Olympic Romance from Keira Andrews #figureskating #Sochi2014

I love the Olympics. For two weeks, I spend every non-working and non-sleeping hour glued to sports I would never normally watch, and have sometimes never even heard of. (I don’t know what slope style is, but I can’t wait to find out!)

Figure skating is one winter sport that I follow year in and year out. I attend competitions and watch all the skating I can on TV. Olympic seasons are obviously especially exciting, and this year I decided to combine my two passions — skating and gay romance. Meet Dev and Misha, two pairs skaters who are rivals in the ice and forbidden lovers in the locker room.

Andrews cold war Welcome Guest Blogger Keira Andrews

After an explosive locker room confrontation with his Russian rival ends in the most surprising and intense sex of his life, American pairs skater Dev Avira needs to refocus. He’s worked for years to win Olympic gold, and he can’t let himself—or his partner—down. Distraction in the form of steely and smoldering Mikhail Reznikov is the last thing he needs as he prepares for the biggest competition of his life.

But with the Games only days away, they can’t keep their hands off each other. Dev soon learns that beneath Mikhail’s arrogant and aloof exterior is Misha, a passionate man who warms Dev’s heart and scorches his bed. They’re both determined to win, but for Misha his freedom could be on the line. Can Dev put his deepening feelings on ice as he goes for gold?

An excerpt from Cold War

“The next bus isn’t for an hour. I’m going to go take a run around the arena before I hit the showers. See you in a bit,” Bailey said before disappearing into the locker room.

It had been a long day, and Dev was more than ready to relax and let the steam soak up some of his aches and pains. He nodded to one of the Russian ice dancers as he walked into the locker room. Most of the skaters had caught the earlier bus, it seemed. Andrew glanced up as he finished lacing his sneakers.

“Hey, man. I was thinking about going for a run. You up for it?”

“No, but if you hurry, you can catch up with Bailey.”

Andrew’s face lit up. “Seriously? Later!” He disappeared so quickly he practically left a vapor trail.

The ice dancer chuckled. “So much energy,” he said in a thick accent. “To be so young again.”

“What are you, twenty-five?”

“Da. Feels like forty-five right now.” He rubbed his lower back.

“I hear ya.”

Dev unlaced his skates and stripped out of his simple black practice clothing. He pulled his flip-flops from his bag and grabbed a towel. The showers were down a short hallway, and as he passed the door to the sauna, he saw a few skaters baking inside. The long shower room was divided into ten curtained stalls, with five on each side.

He headed toward the back and hung his towel on the hook beside the stall. There was one other shower running, but it stopped as Dev stood outside his stall, waiting for the water to reach the right temperature. He turned automatically when he heard the curtain sliding back.

Hand frozen in midair as he reached for his towel, Mikhail stood several feet away in the doorway of a stall on the other side of the room. Water dripped down his taut, lean body, and Dev couldn’t stop from staring at Mikhail’s long, uncut cock, hanging with his meaty balls. A trail of dark hair led down from his belly button to a neatly trimmed thatch. A small tattoo of a flying bird drawn with black lines—an eagle, perhaps?—adorned Mikhail’s left hip.

What am I doing? Danger, Will Robinson! Danger!

Dev’s throat was suddenly dry, and he forced his gaze back up. Mikhail’s blue eyes were dark, and he licked his lips. The silence stretched taut between them. Then Mikhail moved, but instead of leaving, he shoved Dev back into the shower stall and under the warm water. Dev hit the wall and before he could even blink, Mikhail was on his knees, his hands like brands on Dev’s hips.

Gone was the cool and collected competitor as Mikhail looked him up and down, eyes wild. It felt as if all the blood in Dev’s body rushed to his dick, and he couldn’t move—could barely breathe—as he waited to find out what happened next. What were they doing? They hated each other. They shouldn’t want this. Yet Mikhail stared up at him hungrily as if waiting for permission.

Dev gripped Mikhail’s hair, gasping as Mikhail swallowed his cock almost down to the root, one hand wrapped around the base as he hollowed his cheeks.

“Oh fuck,” Dev whimpered. It was so hot and wet and amazing. Mikhail’s lips stretched over him, and he stared up, completely open in a way Dev had never seen, not even during their madness in Kyoto. Everything Dev hated about Mikhail—his arrogance and cold perfection—was flung away in the messy, desperate sucking as he swallowed Dev fiercely.

All of Dev’s defenses shattered, and he gave in. Fingers tangling in Mikhail’s hair, he pumped his hips, unable to control himself. He was about to apologize, but Mikhail moaned softly and urged him on, opening his mouth wide, his hands loosening on Dev’s hips. Eyes falling shut, he took Dev’s thick cock eagerly as Dev rocked his hips and fucked Mikhail’s mouth.

They should stop this. Someone could walk in at any moment. Good God, they were at the Olympics! Chest heaving, Dev pulled out, his dick smacking Mikhail’s cheek. Dev opened his mouth to say something—anything!—that would bring them to their senses, but he could only stare at Mikhail’s wet lips and raw, lust-darkened eyes.

Someone will find us!

But then, his eyes locked with Dev’s, Mikhail teased the foreskin and traced the throbbing vein on the underside of Dev’s shaft with his tongue. Groaning, Dev reached blindly for the curtain and whipped it shut, unable to tear his eyes away from the man at his feet.

He finally had Mikhail Reznikov on his knees, and he’d never imagined it would be like this.
