Hunger Awakened by Dee Carney

There’s something inside of him, some dormant part that’s been awakened. And now it wants to be set free…

Something’s wrong with Sebastian Kent. Already considered an outsider in the vampire community as a half-vampire, half-something else, he’ll do everything in his power to hide his weakness. But when sickness strikes, he has no choice but to turn to a human for help—a woman whose touch provides his only relief.

Alice Bowman is hiding her own illness, one that has left her homeless. When she comes to Bast’s aid, she doesn’t expect to be thrust into the world of vampires. But he offers her refuge and a job researching his family history in the hope of finding a clue to his mysterious affliction. She can’t resist his offer of protection—and the chance to spend more time with the man who arouses her every desire.

But as Bast and Alice’s hunger for each other grows, so does the power of Bast’s unexplained half. And soon his unknown past and her uncertain future threaten to keep them apart forever….

 What’s this release about?

This story follows Hunger Aroused and is about a vampire warrior on the brink of a destruction by a mystery illness he doesn’t know how to handle. He’s an outsider in his world, fighting and clawing to prove himself to be worthy of his rank, but his questionable lineage always casts shadows on him, no matter how hard he tries. When he meets a human who manages to soothe the illness, he thinks he’s found salvation…only to discover that she’s facing a lethal illness of her own that might take her away from him forever.

What’s coming next for you?
I’m currently writing the next story in my foodie romance series, Close to the Heat. In this light-hearted contemporary romance, the hero is on a cooking show where he has the chance to win ten thousand dollars if he can win. But the one person who can help him win, his chef mentor, is a sexy distraction that he can’t afford. (The first book in this series is Once Burned, which is available now.)

What’s your favorite part of writing?
As much as I moan and whine about the process of writing (usually because I’m stuck and can’t figure out where the story is going next), I love when all of the pieces start to come together as I’m getting close to wrapping up the story. I read what I’ve done and think, “wow! I did that?” lol.
